As a Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst, you will be involved in managing and optimizing the purchase, tracking, utilization and harvesting of software licenses within the organization. You will work to identify and improve operational processes, such as workflow management, and other vendor administration duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process and maintain software licensing purchases and documentation as a part of the IT Asset Management (ITAM) program
  • Ensure that ITS collects and maintains accurate Software Licensing information in repositories to address budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contracts, and cost
  • Stay informed of new and updated software license models and options for key vendor products
  • Work with ITS team members to develop processes and procedures to automate the collection, storage and reporting of key software data so that the products can be managed across the enterprise in an effective manner
  • Ensure compliance by comparing current and future usage plans with those rights
  • Provide information needed for those involved in resolving non-compliance issues, license true-ups & reconciliation, software vendor audits, and dispute resolution
  • Identify savings opportunities through software re-harvesting and license optimization.
  • Conduct and report asset reconciliation and audit activities
  • Administer internet domain and SSL certification purchases
  • Create end-user facing documentation to assist users with software activation, deactivation, installation and upgrades
  • Manage day to day requests from end-users to fulfill software licensing needs and submit RFQs and POs as necessary
  • Work with staff to obtain invoice approval, process invoices, and coordinate with Accounts Payable for vendor payment
  • Provide status updates to stakeholders diligently following up to meet the business SLA
  • Respond to requests from Software Owners, end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT Software Asset Management information
Requirements

Job Knowledge/Skills:

  • Familiar with software licensing models to distinguish what is being requested and what is being purchased
  • Understand purchasing and license information, which will need to be deciphered and enter into IT Asset Management (ITAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM) systems
  • Understand the procurement cycle and be familiar with RFQs, POs, Vendor Invoicing
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Self-starter that is comfortable managing multiple deadlines and knows how to prioritize under pressure
  • Ability to define projects and execute within timelines and with multiple stakeholders. Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Adept in use of MS Office, Excel, internet, and e-mail

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3+ years supporting operations and/or IT.
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, or Business desired.
  • Experience with Software Asset Management systems highly desired.
  • IAITAM or CSAM certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of product use rights for publishers such as Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, SAP, Symantec, IBM, HP, etc.
