As a Portfolio Development Engineer, (PDE), you will be responsible for bringing new annuity-based services to market in a complete and timely manner.  You will collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of the resulting portfolio deliverables and focus on extending current OEM offerings, as well as building newly formed solutions that result from fresh strategic partnerships.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Work with strategic partners and OEMs to obtain lab gear and collaborate on applicable PowerPack development requirements based on set timelines
  • Draft marketing content to prepare for the release of new products and services
  • Work with strategic partners and OEMs to understand product roadmaps for existing Portfolio items as it relates to the Normalization of the Portfolio

Testing & Development

  • Develop PowerPacks, and/or develop PowerPack technical specifications, working with 3rd parties to ensure PowerPack development meets stated requirements
  • Develop Service Delivery Documents, (SDDs)
  • Test new PowerPacks in a lab / test environment, following SDLC guidelines; utilize proof-of-concept, if possible
  • Develop training material for MS engineering, PS Pre-Sales, Business Development Executives (BDE’s), and VPs of Business Development (DBD’s).

Organization and Timeliness

  • Meet deadlines, as assigned by the Manager, Portfolio Development
  • Escalate show-stoppers, and/or any issues that may impact deliverable timelines, immediately to the Director, Portfolio Development and/or the Director, MSC Technologies, as appropriate
  • Ensure work is accurate and complete, working proactively via peer and Management review, proactively suggesting opportunities for improvement.

Job Knowledge/Skills:

  • Able to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team environment
  • People management skills with strong communication abilities
  • Strong client focus and high level customer service expertise
  • Demonstrates depth of operational service delivery management expertise
  • Systems and IT literate, including Networking, Business Communications, Security, Wireless, SAN and Server Management support, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Relevant degree and/or professional qualifications
  • ITIL v. 3 Foundations of Service Management
  • Working with or for an IT managed services or professional services organization in a heterogeneous engineering capacity for 3-5 years
  • All technical certifications are a plus. (Storage, network, UC, hypervisor, etc.)
