Job Description

This position can also be located in the Raleigh, NC area or Herndon, VA.

Job Purpose:

The Principal Architect is a national role responsible for developing solutions around current and emerging hybrid cloud architectures including servers, storage, networking, public cloud and cloud stack technologies. The Principal Architect must serve as a thought leadership, and enabler for the technology both internal and external to the company.  The Principal Architect is one of the company’s top resources for strategic direction and solutions. As an enabler, the Principal Architect creates BU aligned solutions, develops communication materials, enables sellers and technical personnel, engages with technology partners, performs public speaking at conferences, and promotes the “Why ePlus” message internally and externally. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Principal Architect serves in a national position but must work closely with the regions and therefore must be able to create value through both direct and indirect team-building.
  • Sales and technical enablement
    • Engage directly with regional and overlay sales team to train, enable and support rapid rollout of solutions ePlus is taking to market.
    • Engage with key national and regional technical resources to build consensus and momentum for current and future solutions.
    • Establish and promote communication platform to continuously engage with regional sales and technical teams to build mindshare.
  • Architecture development
    • Collaborate with corresponding Principal Architects including IoT and Security to design sales and engineering enablement programs
    • Support sales in customer facing meetings
    • Align with the Technical Principalership Councils and Regional Vice Presidents for Professional Services to ensure that we are able to design, implement and manage new and emerging solutions.
    • Collaborate with peers in practice areas to create content to drive sales and improve project quality
      • Sales: data sheets, technology and process presentations, solution positioning, competitive differentiators, etc.
      • Proposal: reference designs, task lists, work breakdown structures, assumptions, level of effort estimates, SOW templates, etc.
    • Develop product positioning, identify competitors, value proposition and go-to market strategy
    • Align with OEM alliance managers and key OEM partners in development, roadmaps, and market acceleration activities
    • Support marketing teams in the creation and validation of ePlus cloud solutions focused marketing content for eplus.
    • Assess customer pain points and market demand to define compelling services offerings packaged as a product
    • Enable technical readiness, training and development on developed practice area solutions

  • Business development
    • Participate in identifying strategic and tactical manufacturer partnerships and key players necessary to achieve and sustain thought leadership for ePlus solutions
    • Evaluate, initiate, grow, and manage partnership opportunities with both manufacturer and services organizations
    • Proactively work with ePlus vendor management team in achieving vendor certification targets and audit requirements
    • Ensure solutions are designed to drive services revenue for ePlus and provide value to our customers
    • Evaluate emerging market trends and directions in order to accelerate technology discovery & adoption
    • Build credibility by establishing ePlus as an authority on hybrid cloud architectures
    • Expand industry awareness of ePlus through webinars, seminars, speaking engagements, blogging, publishing, and other forms of media
Requirements

  • Private, Hybrid and Public cloud technologies
  • Enterprise compute, storage and networking
  • Orchestration and Automation
  • Microsoft Cloud services such as Azure and Azure Stack
  • Conceptual knowledge and understanding of SDN technologies
    • Issues authoritative, publishable opinions on emerging technologies and trends
    • Demonstrated ability to guide teams through multiple vendors’ product strategies and competitive differences
    • Holds highest or multiple advanced vendor certifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred
  • 10 years of progressively successful career progression within an IT related industry.
  • Experience working in a high growth, fast paced, high speed environment and industry
  • Deep knowledge of the data center and cloud technology architecture (private, hybrid and public cloud, etc.).
